Grinding is crucial step in cement production, but its high electricity consuming is a great disadvantage. The research to improve grinding efficiency and reduce electricity consumption is always concerned by cement plant. Ball mill is important equipment in grinding, and have a high position in cement field. However, the design of ball mill grinding system is a complex procedure, mostly depends on expert experience. This paper mainly discuss the research and development of ball mill grinding which based on theory of expert system and technology of cased-based reasoning, aims to conduct cement production.Firstly, introduce the background and significance of the study, which is based on the cement current situation and difficulties of grinding. Summarize grinding system development trend and research status of expert system, and indicate the study content of this paper in detail.Secondly, expatiate on structure of expert system and crucial technology of CBR and the characteristic of case-based reasoning expert system. Present the process of cement grinding including ball mill,separator,sort, flow etc, and analyze primary factors which influence grinding efficiency. Then, establish the frame of ball mill grinding expert system and database model.Thirdly, describe and input grinding case, then adopt the nearest neighbor approach to calculate similar distance and find optimal case by using this approach and fuzzy search. Besides, establish expert knowledge store based on the e-warehouse of PDM and calculate parameter, which is beneficial and convenient for the design of ball mill grinding system.
