The technologies on microminiaturization have the world-wide practical application prospect. The best way to manufacture micro-3D parts of improving the function of accessories and reliability of equipments should be in micro-milling by the extensive selections of materials and figures. To study the motion control of linear motors on this micro-mill machine tool, some experiments were studied in this paper. Based on the Galil's DMC-1842 motion controller, an open architecture CNC system for micro-milling has been built. The real-time work should be achieved by this controller and the others need to be accomplished by PC.Some tests have been done on linear motors for maximum using this driven table. And some acceleration and deceleration response curves have been painted. On this basis to improve the position control and servo follow precision, the effects to the dynamic characteristic of some servo parameters have been analyzed.The application of this machine tool was exploited by C# software based on the design of modularization. Using DLL from the controller could convenience achieve functions just like line interpolation, circular interpolation, helix etc. In order to meet the requirements in micro-milling, the program of some functions of complicated curves was provided.In order to validate the hardware performance and software functions of this micro-milling machine tool, some machine tests have been done. The result of these showed this machine tool could reach the goal of requirement of micro milling.
