With the ever increasing energy needs,how to utilize energy source effectively and rationally have already become a problem people concerned. Phase change materials play important roles in the solar energy system, energy saving buildings and heating or air conditioning systems because they absorb and release latent heat during the phase change processes. Phase change materials help to overcome the mismatch between energy demand and supply. If phase change materials are applied in the exterior-protected construction, it could absorb and store heat that enter the room during the day and release heat at night to keep the room temperature in a comfortable range. Thus the heating and cooling energy consumptions of the building would decrease so as to achieve the purpose of energy saving.The purpose of this paper is to research and develope phase change material wallboard used in the field of building air conditioning,thereby to reduce energy consumption. In this paper, several paraffin mixtures with different phase change temperature were selected by analyzing and comparing the characteristics of different phase change materials. The phase change temperatures,phase change latent heats and stability of paraffin mixtures with different mass ratio were studied experimentally by differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). And obtained several kinds of paraffin mixtures with different melting points. Several kinds of phase change materials with lower phase change temperatures and higher phase change latent heats were selected according to the requirements in the performance and economy of phase change materials. Shape-stabilized phase change material constituted phase change material and support material were preparation. The phase change temperatures,phase change latent heats and stability of shape-stabilized phase change materials were studied experimentally by differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). And the best content of paraffin in the shape-stabilized phase change material also was studied. The combination methods of phase change material and building material were studied in this paper. Phase change material wall and shape-stabilized phase change material wall were prepared with directly blending method. The change law of thermal flow and temperature of samples were studied by Heat Flow Meter. Energy-saving effect and feasibility of phase change material walls were studied by contrasting with traditional walls. Results can provide the certain reference value for the application of latent heat energy storage technology in the passive solar house.
