Virtual machining is a process which makes a virtual object model achieve geometry and physical properties changes in a virtual environment,it is a mapping of the real process in a virtual environment.The goal is to achieve the real reproduction of processing in the computer.Nowadays CNC machine tools are used widely in manufacturing.In order to reduce the cost of test cuts, simulation of CNC processes is needed; CNC codes are checked on the computer in virtual cutting.On the other hand, it can also improve greatly the effect of teaching and training of CNC machine tools.The control panel is the control center of the CNC lathe,all operations of the user to the virtual numerical control system are implemented by user interfaces.The virtual turning system has been simulated based on CYNC-400 CNC lathes which is of SINUMERIK 802D numeri-cal control system in this paper.The system's user interface has two main devices:â‘ CRT/MDI Operation Panel,that is,CRT is a display device.MDI keyboard is a manual data input device,which is mainly composed by double-function keys.â‘¡Machine operator panel, which is composed by a number of buttons. The main researches in this paper are as follows:1. CNC code structure is analyzed and all kinds of errors in programming can be checked by using lexical analysis, syntax analysis and semantic analysis.2. A virtual module library is created by the use of opengl display list technology. The 3D sence of Virtual CNC turning system is built by virtual assembly technology using the virtual module library, which is referenced on the CYNC-400 numerical control machine in Engineering Training Center of SooChow University.3. A CRT display interface is designed. The screen is the only way for communication between operators and CNC machine. Its main function is to show various parameters of the machine, such as edit, display, storage, implementation of processing procedures and etc.4. MDI keyboard interface is also be developed. Basic tasks of MDI interface buttons are data processing through the screen.For example,direct input processing procedures;Edit or alter the procedures which are stored in the controller and so on. 5. Operation panel interface is researched.Through the operation button which can make a direct mechanical adjustment to change its working status.Such as the axis's fast-moving.Otherwise,you can also activate the spindle clockwise or counterclockwise rotation and adjust its speed through the button.6. The HELP module is also be developed to explain the existing functionality of the system and use.Researches mentioned above have been fully integrated into CNC turning system V3.0.The virtual control panel can achieve good control effect for CNC after case study and also has good application in the field of teaching and training.
