Life cycle assessment is a novel, the most vitality and the development of future environmental management tool, which is more and more applied to the field of sewage treatment. In life cycle assessment of waste water plant, the focuses of people's attention are sewage treatment and its impact on the environment. At the sewage treatment process of carbon dioxide, ammonia, methane and at discharge from the process of nitrogen, phosphorus, copper, mercury, cadmium and other material have a great impact on the environment. In this paper, the material flow of the waste water plant are analyzed to provide a list of life cycle assessment data, and then combined with life cycle impact assessment step to realize the quantification of global warming, atmospheric acidification, eutrophication and aquatic toxicity, finally got the precise trends of the impact on the environment, that can response to the environmental impact more intuitively. The results show that temperature and operating conditions are the main factors, which impacts on the life cycle assessment of waste water plant. Life cycle assessment results of waste water plant can be better for business operators to provide improved theoretical basis, as well as government departments to develop relevant standards and regulations based on. At the same time, the energy flow based on the material flow revealed that recycling resources of methane and residual sludge contains much energy, which can provide ideas for waste water plant on seeking an effective way of saving energy and reducing consumption, under the premise of the effluent discharge standards.
