Hydraulic loom wastewater is a sort of wastewater with complex water quality, the discharge amount of Hydraulic loom wastewater in Changxing Area which located at the edge of the Taihu Valley is very large and the pollution status is serious. This research apply Biological aerated filter process for the Hydraulic Loom wastewater treatment, it was operated under three conditions (flow rate is 0.8 .m3/h,0.6 m3/h,0.4 m3/h ,gas-water ratio is 2:1,3:1,3:1,respectively) with lava stuffing and clay ceramisite stuffing. The research results as follows:(1) The treatment effect of Hydraulic Loom wastewater by BAF with lava and Clay ceramisite stuffing are fulfilling. After the treatment, CODcr,BOD5,NH3-N,TP of effluent could reach GB18918-2002 secondary standard, which apply a new process for the Hydraulic Loom wastewater treatment.(2) During the biofilm culturing phase, we use combined culturing process to start up the filter, and the cultivation process is fast, then the biofilm can attach to both the lava and the clay ceramisite stuffing within 9 days. Under the same condition, both the speed and the effect of biofilm cultivation of lava stuffing are better than that of the clay ceramisite stuffing. Comparing the biofilm culturing under three conditions, it shows that there is no need for BAF to start up again if only the condition changed, yet the kind of stuffing is not changed.(3) The effluent quality under condition 2 and 3 could reach GB18918-2002 secondary standard, however, the effluent quality under condition 1 couldn't, which implies that we'd better choose the most suitable condition when using BAF for Hydraulic Loon wastewater treatment. The CODcr and TP removal effect under condition 3 are better than that under condition 1 and 2. Both the removal effect are fulfilling, especially the removal effect of TP. The BOD5 removal effect under condition 1 is better than that under condition 2 and 3. The NH3-N removal effect under condition 2 is better than that under condition 1 and 3.(4) Generally, Lava stuffing has better removal effect than clay ceramisite stuffing after comparing the treatment results. It's owing to the difference of characteristics between those two kinds of stuffing. This implies a better choice of stuffing.(5) The research on the backwashing of BAF shows that under three conditions, the backwash period is 715 days and the backwash time is 1530min. It is necessary to consider the head loss, HRT and the effluent quality to determine the backwash period and time.(6) We establish an empirical model of the organic contaminant removal by BAF with lava stuffing and the model equation is S=S0e(-2.01h)/v(7) We also establish an empirical model of the organic contaminant removal by BAF with lava stuffing and the model equation is S=S0e(-1.73h)/v...
