Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin is a new material with unique performance, which is the post-chlorinated product of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It has good mechanical properties and excellent properties especially in weather-resistant, anti-aging, corrosion-resistant, and flame-retardant. Copolymers of silicone-acrylate are a type of modified silicone new materials, which used as coating, adhesive and leather season agent. There are few researches on silicone-acrylate rubber particles used as plastics modifier.In this paper, the structures and properties of silicone-acrylate rubber particles (S1046) are studied. The mechanical properties, toughening mechanism of its blends with CPVC or alloys of CPVC/PVC are researched. The rheological properties of blends of CPVC/S1046 are investigated.The micro-structures of S1046 rubber particles are characterized by SEM, its chemical structure is analyzed by FTIR, and the thermo-mass loss is analyzed by TG, the glass-transition of which is studied by DSC. The results showed that the rubber particles show larger size, in the interior of the particles, silicone is linked to acrylate with chemical bonds, no phase separation is found. It has proper cured structure and excellent heat-resistant.The mechanical properties of blends of CPVC/S1046 are investigated. The toughing mechanisms of its blends with CPVC are researched by TEM. The synergistic effects of S1046 toughing CPVC with MBS, CPE are studied. The results suggested that S1046 show good compatibility with CPVC, the impact performance of CPVC is modified remarkably by S1046, especially when it is used with MBS or CPE. The toughening effect is better than any single impact modifier.The rheological properties of CPVC/S1046 blends were researched with capillary rheometer. Their rheological behaviors in different temperature and different compressive stress are studied. The results showed that the apparent viscosity of CPVC decreased with the adding of S1046.The mechanical properties of blends of CPVC/PVC/S1046 are investigated. The results suggested that with the adding of S1046, the impact strength of CPVC/PVC alloy is modified remarkably, but the tensile strength and Vicat softening temperature declined slightly. The impact strength is increased over 3 times when CPVC/PVC alloys blend with S1046 and MBS, or S1046 and CPE, The results indicated that S1046 possesses synergistic effects for toughening CPVC when it is used with MBS or CPE.
