Refractory organic wastewater is harmful and it is hard to treat directly by the conventional wastewater treatment methods. In consideration of economy and technology, new pretreatment techniques should be developed to improve the biodegradability of refractory organic wastewater, before it is treated by the conventional methods. Self-made gas diffusion electrode was used for the refractory organic wastewater pretreatment to reduce COD value and improve biodegradability of wastewater in this paper.In this paper, the gas diffusion electrode was studied mainly, the preparation techniques and optimal condition of the catalyst and were determined: when the proportion ofLa(NO3)3·6H2O,Ni(NO3)3·6H2O and C6H8O7·2H2O is: 1 : 1 : 3, the pH is 9, the calcinations temperature is 800℃, the catalyst has integrated crystal form; When the mass of graphite is 6g, catalyst is 0.6g, pore-forming agent is 0.6g, PTFE is 3g, calcinations temperature is 300℃, the gas diffusion electrode possess the highest catalytic activity. The gas diffusion electrode was applied to the treatment of refractory organic wastewater, the results show that, when the current density is 0.1A, electrolyte concentration is 0.3 mol/L, electrode distance is 3cm, aeration rate is 150L/min,the electrode has the highest degradation efficiency. The degradation of Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B keep to the first kinetics equation, the total reaction kinetics equation is:The crystal structure, micrographs, deoxidation potential of the gas diffusion electrode and catalyst were analyzed with the help of XRD, SEM, potentio- dynamic polarization measurements. Results illustrated that①The catalyst has pure crystal phase, integrity of the structure, higher diffraction peak intensity and the stable and single perovskite structure.②The gas diffusion electrode has rich pore structure, good gas diffusion properties and the higher hydrogen evolution potential than common graphite electrode. The electrocatalytic Performance of the gas diffusion electrode is excellent.The preparation techniques for gas diffusion electrode were enriched by the results of the study, and a new method of the treatment of hard degradation organic waste water was also invented.
