As the nitrogen pollution in water bodies is becoming increasingly serious, and the nitrogen index becoming increasingly strict, existing traditional treatment technologies without added extra carbon source could not achieve satisfying effluent quality. Shortcut nitrification-denitrification is regarded for its advantages, such as reduced COD consumption, reducing the amount of sludge discharging, saving energy, and etc. It has been obtained widespread attention. The coupling of sludge anaerobic hydrolysis and shortcut nitrification-denitrification process were used for treatment of actual municipal wastewater with low C/N ratio. In this experiment, the efficiency of sludge anaerobic hydrolysis, complete nitrification -denitrification, shortcut nitrification-denitrification, shortcut nitrification-denitrification process integrated with sludge anaerobic hydrolysis were investigated. The results are as follows:(1) Anaerobic hydrolysis process was used short period (10 h) control, it was operated at 33-35℃, did not adjust pH value. The supernatant of the anaerobic sludge hydrolysis was about 680 mg/L, when the inoculation sludge concentration was about 5000 mg/L, it is increased by an average of 560 mg/L to those without pre-hydrolysis, and the C/N ratio increased from less than 5 to 12.0. So it can get hydrolyzate with high C/N ratio.(2) In this study, the set up process of shortcut nitrification-denitrification by increasing the NH4+-N concentration in the first two cycles, in this process the FA concentration was controlled at 25 mg/L, without pH control, at the same time, SRT was control at about 10 d. It can be successfully set up both at 30 - 35℃and 18-25℃during 6 d. After that NO2--N/NOx--N ratio was kept at more than 80% when DO concentration changed both from 3.5-4.5 mg/L and 6.5-7.5 mg/L. When SRT was longer than 60 d NO2--N/NOx--N ratio was also comparatively stable.(3) The experiment results (30-35℃and 18 - 25℃)showed that: The COD concentration of shortcut nitrification-denitrifications were about 35.39 mg/L and 39.36 mg/L independently during the treatment of low C/N ratio urban wastewater. But, it was 2.7 mg/L and 8.5 mg/L higher than the complete nitrification-denitrification which under the same conditions independently. The effluent TN concentrations were 17.96 mg/L and 18.70 mg/L independently, it was superior to the same reaction conditions for the complete nitrification-denitrification. In order to enhance nitrogen removal efficiency of the shortcut nitrification-denitrification, 10% of SBR influent was replaced with the products of sludge anaerobic hydrolysis for supplying extra part of the carbon sources for denitrification. The TN concentration in the effluent was 13.39 mg/L and 13.76 mg/L, independently.
