Acoustic emission technique is a new nondestructive testing technology, and it is suitable for on-line monitoring in grinding process. This thesis focuses on developing a monitoring and control system for grinding based on AE technology, including the design of a simulation system base on LabVIEW and the design of a embedded system based on ARM and DSP.This thesis is divided into six parts. Chapter 1 introduces briefly the development of acoustic emission technique and acoustic emission treatment technology, and describes the applications of acoustic emission technology in the grinding process. Chapter 2 analyzes the functional requirements of the monitoring and control system for grinding, designs the framework of the system, and describes the hardware and software components of the system. Chapter 3 designs the software function modules of AEMS with LabVIEW, including signal acquisition module, data processing module and results display and output modules. Chapter 4 designs a embedded AEMS system based on ARM9 and DSP6416, describes the overall block diagram of the design, and introduces the designs of each module in detail. Chapter 5 describes the DSP software development processes and CCS development environment, then designs each module of the DSP software. Chapter 6 presents some suggestions for further development.
