With the development of industry, corporation and consumer put a more and more precise demand on the geometry shape of strip. But the edge drop of strip which take only the first step in shape control reduces the use rate. So it is necessary to study the edge drop of cold rolled sheet. In this dissertation, a SMS-EDC mill is taken as researching object, whose special properties of shape control under the edge drop of strip are analyzed fully.First, in this paper, the basic knowledge about the SMS-EDC mill is introduced. the limit of internal diameter of flexible area in work roll is calculated base on combining mechanical model of the SMS-EDC mill.Second,The influence conefficient method based on the influence function method is calculated, Meanwhile, establish three-dimensional plastic deformation of strip by the strip element method,use calculate the roll pressure by Stone formula. Then give out the calculation flow chart of metal deformation model and SMS-EDC mill whole model.Finally, comparing simulated results of the ordinary mill and the SMS-EDC mill which is calculated individually with roll gap's shape, transverse displacement distribution of metal, transverse exit and entry tensile stress distribution, the SMS-EDC mill is better than the ordinary mill on the edge drop of cold rolled strip. Meanwhile,based on the results calculated by the rolls system deformation program, analyze the influence to shape control by wok roll shifting, work roll bending force and internal diameter of flexible area of SMS-EDC mill, and then elicit its shape control characteristics.
