With the accelerated pace of industrialization in China, the demand for aluminum is growing in all walks of life. Aluminum is the highest non-ferrous metals in the industry. Electrolysis aluminum is the main way to get the production of aluminum. The major equipment in the process of electrolysis aluminum is large Aluminum Reduction Cells. Stop groove and slot in the aluminum process technology is achieved through artificial means. The process of repair in cell will consume large amounts of energy, and this is the most important aluminum industry's energy consumption. Therefore, if we can resolve the non-outage maintenance in electrolysis aluminum, it will bring great profits to aluminum industry. This thesis presents a design strategy of a non-fail-stop groove automation control system through researching in new short-circuit shunt. The main function of the system is to achieve the process of electrolytic cell maintenance without power interruption by electronic switches and mechanical switches complement each other. This idea can solve the shortcomings of current devices, it also can realize mechanical switch and will not produce serious "ignition" or "Blasting" phenomenon in high current conditions. At the same time, it ensure the safety of manual processesThis thesis gets the MOSFET's output characteristics and transfer characteristics by laboratory simulation experiments and field tests. Control system consists of PC MP370 touch screen, lower machine S7-200 PLC and a few parts EM231 expansion module. System control program downloaded to the PLC through USB/PPI cable. We realize not stop grooving blackout by electronic switches and mechanical switches complement each other through the PLC program. Finally, we can operate control system via MP370 touch screen.
