Oxy-fuel technology was origined and developed in the end of 20th century 80s.It is an advanced combustion technology that make oxygen instead of air react with fuel, and it is also an important achievement in the field of glass furnace and glass melting technology in the world.The technology not only can save lots of energy, but also has a good effect on protecting environment as the fact that the nitrogen oxide has been completely avoided during combustion process.Because the water vapor content reach 53% in the oxy-fuel combustion space, resulting in the reaction between glass melt and the water vapor which causes the internal structure, the quality and properties of the glass changed. To develop high quality glass, the melting process system have been need to adjusted. In this paper, oxy-fuel firing environment was simulated through puting carbon dioxide and water vapor, of which the volume ratio is 1:1, into the atmosphere furnace.Glass batch program were compared and studied under different melting atmosphere condition., and the suitable glass batch in oxy-fuel firing atmosphere was found out.A series silicate glasses were synthesized in oxy-fuel firing furnace.By testing the hydroxyl content, viscosity, thermal expansion coefficient, bubble number, chemical stability, transmissivity of visible lightand, we try to explore the suitable melting process to produce the quality glass. In addition, some factors that influnce the quality of the glass were discussed. Finally, the float glass melting process in oxy-fuel atmosphere was optimized.The research show that:1.Comparing to air-fuel firing atmosphere, under oxy-fuel firing atmosphere condition, due to the incread water content in glass melt, the refining process improved, the sodium sulphate content can reduce to 1-2%,and the suitable carbon content is 1-2%.2. Compared with air-fuel firing atmosphere, the hydroxyl content of glass increase from about 300ppm to about 500ppm, the glass thermal expansion coefficient and bubble number decrease, the glass transition temperature lower, and the internal structure of the glass did not change significantly in oxy-fuel firing atmosphere. 3.Different melting atmosphere have little influnce on the viscosity of the glass in the temperature range frome 600℃to 800℃.Carbon content have effect on the viscosity of the glass melt in the high temperature range form 1300℃to 1500℃,but the glass viscosity is unanimously above 1500℃.4.Under oxy-fuel firing atmosphere,carbon content have little effect on glass chemical stability if the batch composition is invarious.5.The bubble number can be reduced distinctly and the glass quality is improved through taking the way of lowering the refining temperature.
