A research has be made on optimizing the key equipment-absorber design of the limestone - gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization system, and relevant result showed in this dissertation can be provided as a theoretical basis for absorber design and can be applied widely to the executing project. This dissertation describes the absorber type appearing in different development period and analyzes and elaborates in detailed the currently used type-counter-current spraying empty absorber in wet FGD system in the following aspects: the spray header arrangement, nozzle characteristics and layout, flue gas velocity inside the tower, the mist eliminator design, internal oxidation type selection, etc. At the same time, using commercial CFD software FLUENT 6.3 for numerical simulation to demonstrate the effects that the tower inlet setting works on the flue gas flow field. By comparing affects the different forms of absorber inlet duct to flow field distribution, key parameters and layout type have been determined. The research results have been applied to the Yulian FGD project, the 168-hour trial operation of this project was very successful. This study gives the theoretical guidance and support to the executing projects.
