The coordination polymers not only have abundant topological structures but also have widely promising applications in the field of catalysis, molecular conductor, luminescent materials, molecular magnet and nonlinear optics. Some studies indicate that the coordination properties of organic ligands and metal ions exert a crucial influence on the structure and function of coordination polymers, and other factors such as anion, template, mol ratio of reactant and pH value of reaction system play an role in synergistically regulate and control the reaction. So, chemists have been pursuing to design and synthesize the expected structures of coordination polymers with excellent properties. Recently, people have synthesized a lot of metal-organic coordination polymers with novel topological structure by using N-heterocyclic carboxylic acid ligands. In this paper, we have successfully constructed eleven compounds by employing 5-(4-carboxybenzyloxy)isophthalic acid (H3L), 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) and 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (BIMB) as ligands with Zn2+, Cd2+ transition metal ions under hydrothermal conditions. We character the crystal structures and the the fluorescence properties of the compounds, as well as survey the influence of the confirmations of ligands and metal cations on the structures of the compounds.1. We have successfully synthesized seven novel compounds, Zn(L)(H2O) (1) , Zn2(L)(2,2'-bpy)(μ3-OH)2 (2), Zn(HL)(4,4'-bpy)1.5 (3), [Cd(HL)(4,4'-bpy)(H2O)]·H2O (4),[Cd3(L)2(4,4'-bpy)3(H2O)]·2.5H2O (5) ,[Co(HL)(4,4'-bpy)]·H2O (6) and [Co2(L)(4,4'-bpy)0.5(μ3-OH)(H2O)2]·H2O (7),by employing 5-(4-carboxybenzyloxy)isophthalic acid and 4,4'-bipyridine as ligand with Zn 2+,Cd2+ and Co 2+ transition metal ions with hydrothermal method. We discuss the coordination geometry of metal ions and the influence of reaction conditions on the structure of products. At last, we also investigate the luminescent and magnetic properties of compounds.2. We have successfully constructed four novel compounds, [Cd(HL)(BIMB)]·H2O (8) ,[Zn(HL)(BIMB)]·2H2O (9),[Zn3(L)2(BIMB)2]·3H2O (10) and [Zn3(L)2(BIMB)2]·5H2O (11) by employing 5-(4-carboxybenzyloxy)isophthalic acid and 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene as ligand with Cd2+ and Zn 2+ transition metal ions with hydrothermal method. We discuss the coordination geometry of metal ions and the influence of reaction conditions on the structure of products. At last, we also investigate the luminescent properties of compounds. |
