This paper takes the 2610 working face of the Dongpang Coal Mine as the project background. Using theoretical analysis, the computer numerical simulation and measuring on the spot methods, we reach deformation characteristic of adjoiningrock and the adjoiningrock's stabilities in different periods on the basic of analysis of overburden structure of thin coal pillar along goat and mantfestation law of ground pressure. Through the characteristics of adjoiningrock's stress field, the relationships of the adjoiningrock and qualitative/quantitative analysis of factors that affect width of coal pillar, we can conclude the relationship between width of coal pillar and these factors. Considering the pillar's packing body that supports adjacent affected and the residual cohesive force between top and foot walls and coal, we can construct the computing model of the pillars width of the limit equilibrium zone by the theory of the limit equilibrium theory. And we elicit the formula of nonelastic area which is adjacent area's true dip direction. And the result makes the width calculation more reasonable. We can calculate the reasonable width of coal pillar using the size structure theory and the limit equilibriurnm theory. By the analysis of the characteristic of the deformation and the support technology of the adjoiningrock along goaf, we can put forward the support forms in the different period. The results of this reach can offer theoretical basis and reference to the leaving coal pillar and support design along goaf.
