Nowadays, the energy crisis is becoming more and more serious,the development of energy saving technologies will be demanding. Scholars from different countries tried to use various methods to improve energy efficiency, pulse of heat transfer is one of the important methods.In this paper, at the laminar pulsating flow conditions, tube and shell sides of heat exchangers were numerically simulated with different tube (normal tube and corrugated tube), heat transfer enhancement of normal tube and corrugated tube in pulsating flow was studied and the relationship of pulse coefficient and enhanced heat transfer coefficient was analysed. The establishment of experimental platform and experiment research are carried out in order to compare experimental and numerical results.At Laminar flow and constant temperature conditions, pulsating flow in normal tube side cannot enhance the effect of heat transfer. Both instantaneous pressure and Nusselt number are cyclical fluctuations ,however the average is equal to the corresponding steady flow value, and cycles are equal to the cycle pulsating flow. Whether normal tube or corrugated tube, pulsating flow cannot enhance heat transfer of shell side of heat exchanger.By comparing with the steady flow, the pulsating flow increases the heat transfer efficiency of the corrugated tube in Laminar flow by 83% for most.The effect of pulsating flow heat transfer enhancement has relation with pulse frequency and amplitude.In our study, the best dimensionless pulsating frequencies of the corrugated tube are 100~200 HZ and the amplitudes are 0.4~0.6.
