This article analyzes the difference and common points of both the inner and external factors that generated the Chinese ming style and Italy renaissance style furniture design.As a kind of carrier for culture, the forming of furniture style is effected by various factors. This article analyzes the difference by compares the background of policy, economy, and culture in the same period but different area. People in Italy participated actively in the political activities in renaissance, while in Ming dynasty none care about the national affairs except for few politicians. From economy point of view, both nations provided good conditions for furniture development, although by different measures. From view of culture and conception, Italy abstracted the culture from both western and eastern society, while China was closed in that period. Italian education emphasized the combination of science and arts, the application of theory in practices; while the education in Ming dynasty focused on the theories but disregard the application skills.With the corresponding example by Ming style of furniture the Italian Renaissance furniture, the two different styles of furniture design, furniture modeling, materials, decoration these four internal factors were outlined and compared. Ming furniture "Harmony" for the design of thinking, and stress " Harmonious ". Italian Renaissance furniture "humanism" for the design, the pursuit of personality in the way of life on the pursuit of hedonism, the two countries, to varying degrees Impact on the development of furniture.
