The paper elaborates the characteristic and application of the honeycomb compound materials and its development nowadays, tells the classification and the processing method of the honeycomb-core. It analyzes and compares the advantages and disadvantages of direct formation method and stretch formation method, draws a conclusion that the direct formation is better than the stretch formation. This article gives an overview of recent research on metal half-honeycomb profile strip manufacturing with direct formation method and presents an opinion that the involute formation tooth substitute the traditional trapezoidal tooth.The technology of processing involute tooth is already maturity and perfectness.The involute tooth formation improve the trapezoidal tooth formation and promote processing efficiency of the honeycomb compound materials by reducing reshaping procedure.Considering the current situation, which including the weakness of the research on producing metal half-honeycomb profile with direct formation method and the disadvantages of half-honeycomb profile formed with traditional trapezoidal tooth, researching the theory of stress and strain distribution in sheet curing deformation and finite element to steel plate trundle forming simulation, The paper establishes the explicit dynamic simulation model of involute formation tooth formating metal half-honeycomb profile by ANSYS-LS/DYNA and simulate the process for confirmating the feasibility of involute formation tooth. According to the result of the formatting, numerical value of involute formation tooth is analysed and the best tooth profile parameter is given, in order to get a better result and to eliminate the flaw and insufficient of half-honeycomb profile which formed by traditional trapezoid tooth formation.At the meanwhile, stress analysis is studied during the process of involute tooth profile forms sheet metal. Attention is concentrated on the procedure how to establishe the driving influence model that the involute tooth forms metal thin plate, and also the formation driving influence. As a result of that, quantitative relationship is established between the formed driving influence and input quota, using the methods of mathematical physics.Based on experiments, The paper gets the rule how metal mechanical performance parameter affects the driving influence. And the rule provides a theoretical reference for specific considerations when forming various kinds of metal materials, such as equipments, the strength design for roller structure, materials suitable and the choice of prime mover. The approaches in the study and the findings have both theoretical and practical significance to produce half-honeycomb profile strip with the direct formation method.
