The crankshaft complex lathing machine accomplishes the turning processing of the crank neck with the parallelogram principle institution. We need to enrich and perfect its other relevant function. The crankshaft complex lathing machine needs several tools in the process, the design of a suitable automatic tool changer system is significant for the crankshaft automatic processing, which can further improve the efficiency of the crankshaft processing. When we have completed the structure of the crankshaft machine, can further improve the crankshaft machining efficiency. At present the development of the automatic tool changer system is mature, according to the practical characteristics of the crankshaft processing machine, we designed a suitable automatic tool changer system in reference to various existing tool changer systems. We completed the institution selection and design of each part of the"ATC" system.The "ATC" system usually consists of three parts:the tool library, manipulator and drives (some are composed without manipulator), it is headed in the direction of series and standardization. This text discussed the scheme selection and design of the three parts respectively, we designed the concrete structure of each part. We put forward several scheme for the clamping of the tool and tool handle, then we analyzed each scheme respectively about its feasibility advantages and disadvantages, at last we obtained the optimal scheme. We established the "3D"model with the "Pro/E" software after finalizing the design scheme of the clamping institutions for the tool handle.When having completed the clamping institutions design for the tool handle, we designed the tool library institution according to the characteristics of the tool handle. It can well realize the function such as tool catching, hfsword, tool inserting and tool storage. In addition to which, we discussed the way for the tool choice in the tool library and the transposition institutions in detail. At the end of this text we discussed the choice and design of the driving components and transmission components. This text makes a statement about an innovative automatic tool changer system for the crankshaft complex lathing machine, which makes a foundation for the crankshaft automation processing.
