This dissertation starts with the classification of familiar tools in assembly procedure and studies the construction and management of tool library with hierarchical structure in virtual environment. The dissertation discusses the feature modeling method of assembly tool as well as evaluating indexes for tool operation sequence in assembly procedure. After the analysis of tool manipulation process, the dissertation presents a tool positioning method based on operating feature. An assembly of energy storage chamber is taken as an example in which fasteners are disassembled by using the tool in library.The main works of this thesis are as following:Chapter one firstly introduces the research situation of virtual assembly and disassembly technique and study of assembly tool, and then discusses the shortages so far as well as the necessity of inducting tool in virtual environment. At last systematically presents the study of dissertation and its organizing structure.Chapter two establishes the hierarchical structure of tool library on the basis of familiar assembly tool classification. It presents the concept of tool feature, and expresses the tool operation information by geometrical and feature modeling. At last gives the conversion of tool model between CAD system and virtual assembly environment.Chapter three realizes the basic function, bidirectional search function of tool library. It analyzes the influence of tool operation to assembly sequence planning, and gives an example of tool sequence plan based on some evaluating index.Chapter four presents tool positioning operation after analyzing the process of tool interaction in virtual environment. It realizes the positioning and manipulation of assembly tool in virtual disassembly procedure, and gives the inspection method of wrench operator space.Chapter five gives the framework of virtual assembly system with assembly tool library, and takes energy storage chamber as an example to disassemble the fasteners by using the tool library.Chapter six summarizes the major works of this dissertation. Recommendations are given for the further research.
