Since the 1980s, domestic researches in the field of jack-up ocean drilling platform have been developing slowly, and the major transmission mechanism (such as the large reducer,the new transmission system, etc)of the jack-up ocean drilling platform still rely on importation. There are rich manufacturing foundation and ability in china, however, its design ability and the innovation ability are not strong. Taking the jack-up ocean drilling platform which has three legs as the research object, this paper has mainly done the following researches based on its climbing system and locking system:(1) Based on the branch-and-bound method, the discrete optimization program applied in the field of gear transmission system has been accomplished, which can realize the discrete optimization design of the multistage serial planet gear reducer (obtain discrete values of the gear modulus and number of teeth).Based on the optimization design scheme, obtain the optimization design parameters and overall design scheme of the high-power reducer which can be applied to jack-up ocean drilling platform. What is more, using the ADAMS software, the dynamics analysis of the high-power reducer are carried out from the two aspects of time domain and frequency domain, and some reasonable explanation about the analysis results are given;(2) Research the working principle of climbing system of jack-up ocean drilling platform, and then accomplish the design of low-speed and heavy-load climbing system which is made of gear and rack. Under three certain conditions (dead weight of platform and variable load,arbitrary directional wind load, dead weight of platform plus variable load and arbitrary directional wind load), mechanics analysis to the legs has been carried out, and contact analysis to gear and rack has also been carried out based on finite element method and obtain the reasonable, analysis results;(3) Design the locking system applied to jack-up ocean drilling platform, which has the automatic adjustment and automatic reset function. Under the locking condition, complete the mechanics calculation of locking rack and obtain its axial load distribution deformation analysis of the locking rack and the stress analysis of the single teeth.(4) Produce the physical prototype of hybrid reducer whose gear modulus is one fifth of the overall design scheme of the high-power reducer (the transmission ratio is fixed), and it is used to the jack-up ocean drilling platform specifically. Produce the physical prototype of climbing system and locking system as well which can match the physical prototype of hybrid reducer. At last, obtain the physical prototype of the jack-up ocean drilling platform by assembling the physical prototype of hybrid reducer and the climbing system and the locking system.
