A Study On Corporate Environmental Behavior And Its Driving Mechanism In China

Enterprises are not only the creators of social wealth but major environmental polluters, Chinese enterprises, especially industrial enterprises have large emission and energy consumption, which accounts for a large proportion of the national total, since the early 70s of the 20th century, China began to establish and keep improving the environmental regulation to constrain corporate environmental behavior, till now the enterprises are experiencing higher and higher environmental pressure, and at the same time are increasing the demand to gain a competitive advantage through implementing environmental strategies.Enterprises received external environmental pressures and converted them to information of environmental costs, and recognized a part of or all the costs as budget for the enterprise according to the characteristics of their own, then made the appropriate behavioral responses, this behavioral responses called corporate environmental behavior. It makes the external negative effects of environmental pollution taken by sociality originally recognized and committed by enterprises gradually.This study aimer to comprehensively grasp the corporate environmental behavior of Chinese enterprises, analyze the drivers of corporate environmental behavior and their driving mechanism, so as to give suggestions to decision-making and optimization for government policies and corporate environmental strategic management. Therefore, I collect and collate existing references on factors and its driving mechanism of corporate environmental behavior, Based on that, this study analyze the theoretical foundation of the driving mechanism of corporate environmental behavior, and build its theoretical framework and theoretical hypotheses. Select 605 enterprises of the Shanghai Stock Exchange as a sample, collect and obtain research data through empirical surveys to them, and then we get two methods:the first one is evaluating environmental behavior of Chinese enterprises quantitatively by using factor analysis, the second is to clear and definite the drivers of corporate environmental behavior and its mechanism by using regression analysis. Finally, we can conclude the suggestions to improve environmental behavior based on propose of empirical research.
