In recent years, with the invisible resurrection of global economy and the quick development of the national economy of China, many traditional industries need to be transformed because of the Structural Regulation of Industry. A lot of metalplate processing fields have to made further development. For its unique manufacturing advantage the 3-D laser cutting technology has been widely used in the metalplate processing fields . It not only can save moulds in large numbers, but also can make the cycles of new vehicle type development shorter, especially in new automobile developing and small-lot manufacture.In the process of 3-D laser cutting sheet metal parts, the precision and rapidity of the workpiece's location is a very important factor to guarantee the panel's qualities, the cutting accuracy and cutting efficiency. The fixture is the final executor of location research. And that the location question is the focus of fixture research. So it is very indispensable to develop the deep and comprehensive research on the cutting fixture design method, for the purpose of serving social production better.In the paper, the present theory about the laser cutting technology and the fixture design method of home and abroad are firstly described. Secondly, the layout of flowing temperature field in the laser cutting sheet metal part process is analyzed by building the model of flowing temperature field suitable for laser cutting technology based on the ANSYS software. Thirdly, through transforming the workpiece's temperature load into block bearing and appling itself gravity, the optimization analysis of its support location is done using the "N-2-1" location principle, thus obtaining the optimal support shape and position. Finally, a concrete automobile sheet metal part cutting fixture design instance is introduced, and the supporting structure shape is designed in the 3-D modeling software too, which validate the availability and practicality of the cutting fixture design method which is brought forward in the paper.The correlation study in this paper will help to reduce the time and cost of the cutting fixture design, improve the accuracy of the workpiece's location.
