At present, the ship-scatter-gun is the principal type of weapons on various patrol crafts and landing crafts. The skill level of the gunner has a direct impact on its efficiency of battle. However, the training of real shooting can only be performed at sea. The unfavorable factors, such as substantial expenditure, high risk, shortage of drones and sensitivity to weathers, prevent gunners from proper real shooting practice.In order to offer more training opportunities to ship-scatter-gun shooters, we decided to develop a Ship-scatter-gun Shoot Training Simulator (SSTS).SSTS provides lifelike three-dimensional scenarios of sea battle, real-time response to shooter's action, three-dimensional movements of ship-scatter-gun and various kinds of vivid three-dimensional targets at sea, on land and in the sky. The simulator can report target's position, moving direction, velocity and so on with voice automatically. It can also create lifelike firing, exploding, burning and other effects of sound and light, which make the shooter submerged in surroundings similar to a real battle. The shooter's Manipulations can be recorded and further analysis and evaluation can be made with the data if necessary.This paper presents the technical research on SSTS. The simulated object is the commonly used 14.5mm ship-scatter-gun. The research work involves various theories and technologies such as ship movement theory, gunnery theory, computer data collecting technology, computer three-dimensional real-time simulation technology, virtual reality technology and object-oriented technology.Our research is based on the hardware platform composed of the Single Chip Micyocoand PC. We use Protel 99SE to design the hardware circuit for real-time collection of shooter's action and write the SCMprogram with assembly language in the uVision2 integrated exploit environment. The PC program for real-time data collection is developed in Visual C++6.0 integrated environment. We create various three-dimensional models by using Multigen Creator and Vega. The lifelike three-dimensional sea battle vision and sounding environment are developed by using Visual C + + and Lynx, the application program graphic user interface for Vega, and Vega API function and Liberty. We also develop C++ programs for the realization of movements of all kinds of targets, quick and accurate collision detections, and special effects, for instance exploding, raining, snowing etc.. The automatic voice report is realized with Speech SDK 5.1.This paper has realized basically the desktop system of SSTS. It lays a technical foundation for the fulfillment of Hardware in Loop Training Simulator or Immerse Virtual Reality System with Head-Mounted Display for the in the future.The research and development of SSTS will fill the gap of relative field. Its application will remedy the deficiency of shooter's real shooting practice and improve the training level of shooters. Thereby the army's battle effectiveness can be enhanced.
