In the work practice of automobile factories, especially at the stamping and welding lines, the power load related to the power supply and distribution is usually so affected by some factors to cause the decrease in electric energy quality, those factors are e.g. the use of electrical equipment (power consumer) adopting single phase, impact property, low power factor and rectified power source. That can hardly meet the requirement of the production, mainly because of the low power factor, high content of harmonic, and serious voltage drop. Base on analysis of the basic theory on reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression, and regarding the power load quality under power supply & distribution in automobile plant, especially regarding the unstable voltage problem in the low tension distribution network, and for elimination of frequent voltage pulsation in No.2 plant site of FAW Group, this essay indicates the TSC-A bi-directional dynamic reactive power compensator operation principle as well as the core content of the compensator's control part, meanwhile recommends the thyristor controlled condenser bank and automatic connecting/cut-out reactor scheme, that utilizes the theoretic achievement of modern electronic technology so as to realize the bi-directional dynamic compensation and stabilize the voltage of the distribution network; In the design of thyristor trigger circuit, the triggering technology of photoelectric zero voltage is adopted to provide the electric power system with both of the inductive & capacitive reactive factors, moreover, realize the bi-directional voltage regulation and promote the power factor of load as far as possible. This essay has three parts to describe the basic theory on reactive power compensation, TSC-A overall designed structure & principle and the key technology of TSC-A.
