In power system, electric energy is delivered from power generation plants to energy consumers via 4 segments, i.e. power generation, transmission, transformation and distribution. There have lots of energy losses during this process and more than half of these losses occur in the power distribution segment. Therefore, the study on distribution system economic operation is helpful to the loss reduction of the total power system.This dissertation devotes to the interrelated problems of decision-making for economic operation in distribution system, including research on optimal placement of reactive power compensation, operation optimization of reactive power and voltage , and operational characteristic analysis of distribution transformer.First, this paper uses the index of maximum reduction of active power losses as the objective function from the practicality point of view during the distribution system planning.
