Diesel engines with a good momentum of economic and durability, widely used in transport and construction machinery, and other fields. Especially in the 1970s after the world's energy crisis, automotive diesel engines by more people's attention, city buses, large buses and trucks have basically adopted the diesel engine, but its emissions of harmful substances in large, has become a vehicle Shipping traffic-intensive city and the region's main sources of pollution, lead to various diseases in human and ecological damage to the environment.Compared with petrol vehicles, diesel vehicles of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) emissions is very low, generally only a few one-tenth of the gasoline engine; nitrogen oxides emissions from motor vehicles and the same order of magnitude; prominent pollutants Particulate matter (PM), its gasoline engine emissions of about 30 to 80 times, while particulate matter is also strong carcinogen benzopyrene, nitro-thick ring aromatic carrier, very great harm. So clean diesel vehicles on the main direction is to reduce particulate matter and NOx emissions.Regulations regarding automotive diesel engine emissions become more severe every year, and it is difficult to meet the requirements with only combustion improvement techniques. More effective post-processing technology is desired especially for particulate matter (PM), such as carbon soot. Although the use of a ceramic diesel particulate filter(DPF)is now a leading technology for PM removal, the problem exists for the soot removal or regeneration at low temperature, especially at cold start and engine brake operation. In the present study, a regeneration of a DPF is investigated using in indirect or remote nonthermal plasma (NTP) method. The NTP-treated air is injected into exhaust gas, and the NO is oxidized to NO2. The induced NO2 and activated oxygen species are used to incinerate carbon soot deposited on the DPF.It was studied the technology of PM in diesel exhaust using non-thermal plasma. After the diesel exhaust passing the plasma, carbon soot (the main composition) is oxidized to CO2 under the direct and indirect affection, so the environment pollution of the PM in diesel exhaust could be decreased. The mechanism of plasma effect on carbon soot was discussed and the elimination result was proved by the experiment. The situation of NOx reduction using non-thermal plasma in diesel exhaust was simple introduced too.
