The utilization of biomass energy is an effective method for relieving the pressures of conventional energy resources shortage and environmental pollution in China. Biomass pyrolysis technology which can convert biomass to liquid fuel has been getting more and more attention. At present, foreign countries has made great development in biomass fast pyrolysis, but China still remain in the laboratory research stage. So, timely and vigorously carrying out biomass fast pyrolysis related research will contribute to the large-scale application of this technology in China.Focusing on the improving of the feeding system, carbon separation system, liquid product collection system, the optimization of biomass fast pyrolysis system was accomplished. A new feeding system ensures the smooth supply of materials. On the basis of the cyclone separator, the installation of ceramic filter greatly increased the carbon separation rate. A spray tower was designed and constructed to achieve the rapid condensation of bio-oil. Test results showed that the optimized system could be operated continuously.The selection criteria for spray condensing medium was proposed. A variety of spray condensing medium was selected for testing experiments. The cold and hot experiments were accomplished to test the performance of the spray condensing medium. At last, Isopar solvent was selected as the spray condensing medium for biomass fast pyrolysis system.Biomass resources which are suitable for fast pyrolysis were classified and seven kinds of materials were selected for fast pyrolysis study. The bio-oil yield rates of various types of biomass were obtained. The component distribution of different oils was analyzed and compared by the method of GC-MS. At the same time, the char coal of biomass fast pyrolysis was analyzed and compared. The results showed that the spray condensation could increase the oil yield rates.The economic analysis of biomass fast pyrolysis application was accomplished. Based on the economic analysis, biomass fast pyrolysis has bright prospects for the development and utilization.
