Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum uric acid and massive cerebral infarction. Methods:Serum uric acid (BUA), glucose (FPG), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and infarction size were detected in95new cases of massive cerebral infarction patients of our hospital and95healthy controls, which gender and age-matched, then massive cerebral infarction were divided into three group according to the size of infarction area:large infarction50mm-70mm, larger infarction70mm-90mm, largest infarction>90mm. Correlation analysis were performed using multivariate analysis (Logistic regression analysis).Results:1. The levels of BUA, FPG, TG, TC, and LDL-c were significantly higher in case group, and the association still exists after the correction of other risk factors for cerebrovascular disease (eg diabetes, hyperlipidemia).2. Blood uric acid level was positively correlated with infarct size. Conclusion:Hyperuricemia is an independent risk factor for massive cerebral+infarction, and cerebral infarction area was positively correlated with uric acid level.
