The Current Situation Of Community Health Service In China

Community health service (CHS) is based on the community, guided by the demands of community health services in the crowd, comprehensive, economic, convenient, and reachable basic health services. Community health service institutions are mainly community health service centers. The main body of the workers is general practitioners (GPs). Focus groups are women, children, the elderly, patients with chronic illness and disabled people. Service contents emphasis on prevention, medical treatment, health care, rehabilitation, health education and technical guidance of family planning. Service characteristics are centered on people’s health, family for unit, community for range and demand for guidance. And the basic health services are effective, economic, convenient, comprehensive and continuous.Community health service in China started later, but government departments are focusing on the development of community health services. At present, our community health systems still exists many problems, such as low less number of GP, low degree and title and less developed education etc. With the increasing health demand of residents in our country, contradiction is becoming more and more apparent such as community care inverse proportion, the unknow division of labor and increasingly workload and so on. The overall job satisfaction of community general practitioners is low. GP’s social status and economic status are not satisfactoried. So I suggeste the government departments to increase related human resources, expanse general practitioners’team, strengthen the training of general practitioners, and establish a fair and reasonable income distribution system.
