In order to select a more effective acupuncture treatment method for Sciatica caused by lumbar disc herniation. Methods:In this study, we divided 60 patients who meet our standards into two groups, experimental group and control group in average, and each group has 30 cases. Experimental group mainly received the method of acupuncturing sciatic nerve, control group received conventional acupuncture. All patients receive 4 courses of treatment, and each course has 5 treatments. And when a course is finished, all patients would take a two days’ rest. The Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SP-MPQ). Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and Signs and Symptoms List made by myself would be taken to evaluate curative effect.Results:(1)The cure and significant efficiency rate of the experimental group is 83.3%, the control group is 60.00%; The total efficiency of the experimental group is 96.7%, the control group is 93.3%。There is no obvious difference between two groups (P>0.05).(2) After the treatment symptoms and signs of integral of the two groups were markedly improved, comparing with before has significant difference (P<0.01), comparing the symptoms and signs of integral of the two groups after the treatment, there is statistically significant difference (P<0.05). (3) After the treatment, both groups’ PRI、VSA、PPI scores were significantly declined。 The treatment group decreased more significant than the control group.(4)After the treatment, both of the two groups’Oswestry disability index scores were declined. The treatment group relatively decreased more significant than the control group. (5)To follow-up the cured patients after 1 month of the treatment, both group found no recurrence cases.(6)During the treatment, the treatment group had 1 patients with sticking of needle, the rest of the patients had no adverse reactions. Conclusion:On the treatment of sciatica caused by Lumbar Disc Herniation, both acupuncture sciatic nerve and conventional acupuncture methods are effective, acupuncture sciatic nerve group is superior to the conventional acupuncture group in the terms of improving the patients’ pain.In improving daily activities, the experimental group improves faster than the control group.
