Objective: Membranous nephritis (MN) is also called membranous nephropthy, is a common type of primary glomerulonephritis in adults. It is characterized by plenty of immune complex depositing under the epithelial cell of glomerular basement membrane (GBM), and GBM becoming thicker pervasively. It mainly shows nephritic syndrome in clinical symptom. The morbidity of MN is relatively high and it was reported in China that it takes 8.8 percent in all the primary glomerulonephritis, lines No. 3. Although about 16% of patients may acquire remission naturally, 20%-30% will go into renal failure. It is bad to be treated with steroid hormone and Cytotoxic drugs, while they have toxic and side effects. It is so difficult to treat that more and more medical researcher pay close attention to it. In China, people who are engaged in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and combination of west medicine and TCM made much reaserch on this disease. They found out that Chinese medical herbs were dominant in the treatment of MN. In the theory of TCM, the primary aspect of MN is recognized as the deficiency of spleen-qi and kidney-yin, the secondary aspect is dampness, dampness-heat and blood stasis as pathogenic factors. Manshenxiao is a compoundprescription of Chinese herbs, which has the function of supplementing qi and nourishing yin, clearing away pathogenic heat and promoting diuresis, activating the blood circulation and dredging the collateral. It was produced according to the characteristic of MN and mass clinical experience of tutor, and it was tested very effective in clinical.The pathogenesis of MN is not very clear, some people have disagreement on it. In the beginning of 1980's, Border made an animal's MN model which just like human's with cation bovine serum albumin, and Heymann also used another method to make model successfully, he named the model passive Heymann nephritis. Both of them verified that the pathogenesis of MN is that special antibody combined with the antigen which had grown on GBM, so in situ immune complex came into being. Now, the two kind of model has been classic model in study of MN. The study adopted C-BSA to duplicate MN model in rabbits, to detect 24-hour's urine protein content, plasma total protein, albumin, cholesterin, TXB2, 6-keto-PGFi ET and NO, and to find out the changes of histomorphology, to explore the effects and mechanisms of the compound prescription of Chinese herbs -manshenxiao on MN.Methods: In this study, forty male rabbits were selected. After one week's adaptation, they were examined that their proteinuria is negative, and then they were divided into four groups randomly, that were blank controlgroup(blank group), model control group(model group), treatment group with multiglycosides trioterygil wilfordii(MTW group) and treatment group with manshenxiao(MSX group). Each group was premuned by injecting endotoxin of Escherichia coli and C-BSA into the vein in the edge of the ear, except for the blank group. One week later, the formal immunity began. Each rabbit was injected C-BSA 20mg everyday, till the end of the eighth week. From the first day on, the treatment groups were injected medicine into stomach twice a day, according to fifteen times of the dosage of/kg/day of adult. The blank and model groups were injected the same volume of normal saline separately. By the end of the second, fourth, sixth and eighth week, we examined the 24-hour's urine protein quantitative analysis. The eighth weekend, all the rabbits were killed to get kidney tissue for pathologic observation, get blood from the heart for examination.Results: The detection of 24-hours' urinary protein quantitative analysis showed that: two weeks after formal immunity, all the three groups showed different degree of proteinuria, but there aren't significant differences among them(p>0.05); the fourth weekend, the quantity of urinary protein went up to the peak value, and showed significant difference among the groups, ie.
