Observation On Therapeutic Efficacy Of Massage Combined With WRM In Treating Spasticity Of Stroke Hemiplegia

Stroke is one of the diseases with high incidence in clinic. The dysfunctions resulting from stroke, especially hemiplegia influence a lot on the patients' quality of life (QOL). This study aimed at rehabilitation of spasticity in view of traditional chinese rehabilitation medicine (TCRM ). Two different parts of researches were established to be carried out in the study, reviews of documental and theoretical research and clinical study.Theoretical and documental study, West rehabilitation medicine (WRM) focused on the dysfunction, including theory of rehabilitation ,evaluation of dysfunction and rehabilitation training, etc.After many years development, it becomes more and more perfect. However, TCRM is lacking of systemic study on dysfunction, the rehabilitation knowledge is dispersively recorded in the archives of clinical medicine and health-preserving medicine during the long developing process. With the introduction of WRM, TCRM has been put forward as an independent branch, and has the same connotation with modern rehabilitation by absorbing the concept of WRM. On basis of this, by means of documental and theoretical research, the paper explored the knowledge of hemiplegia and spasticity in WRM and TCRM and present state of research on massage in treating stroke hemiplegia. Following the basic law of TCRM, static state combined with movement, active-passive alternation, thera- peutic project was set down for the treatment of spasticity of stroke hemiplegia by combining massage of TCRM and modern rehabilitation.Clinical study. Research object was spasticity of SHP . patients' dysfunction in SHP was evaluated with acknowledeged scales, Modified Ashworth Scale for spasticity, Fuel-Meyer Assessment for physical performance, the Bathel index of ADL for ability of Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL). 27 cases were randomly divided into treated group and control group . By statistic processing, the differences between treated group and control group were not notable in age,the position of infarct,the Scale of spasticity,the physical performance,the index of ADL, etc, before training. On the basis of comparability, both groups were treated by modern rehabilitation and the treated group was also received the massage therapeutics of TCRM. After one period of treatment, the improvement in the Scale of spasticity,the physical performance,the index of ADL,etc, are recorded. Compared with the control group, the alleviation of crura spasticity, the improvement of movement function and the index of ADL of treated group was better. It also indicated that Massage Combined with WRM was effective and practical.This paper first systematically studied spasticity of SHP from the viewpoint of TCRM, which is beneficial not only to rehabilitation treatment of spasticity, but also for further study of composite therapeutic project of rehabilitation.
