Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum HGF and hypertension ,left ventricular hypertrophy and low-density lipoproteins in patients with essential hypertension(EH). Methods: 91 patients with essential hypetension(EH) were recruited. They were divided into four groups: group I : stage 1 simple EH group, group II: stage 2 simple EH group, groupIII: stage 2 EH with Left ventriclar hypertrophy group, groupIV: stage 2 EH with high LDL group. LVIDd,LVPWT and IVST were determined by ultrasoud cardiogram . Corrected Devereux formula was adopted to calculate LVM and LVMI.Serum HGF level was measured with ELISA. Results: Significant positive correlation between HGF and systolic blood pressure, serum LDL levels and left ventricular hypertrophy was found. Furthermore, the serum HGF levels in groupIVand groupIII were higher than those in group II, and the serum HGF levels in group II were higher than that in group I (P<0.01), and the serum HGF levels of group I was significantly higher than those in controh(P<0.01). Conclusion: (1)Serum HGF levels was correlated with systolic blood pressure.(2)the changes of serum HGF level were correlated with serum LDL levels and left ventricular hypertrophy. (3)Serum HGF level increased in hyper tensive patients, and it was significantly higher in suhjects with left ventricularhypertrophy or high LDL than those without.
