Metastasis was the most essential character of malignant tumor,and the main cause to death of the carcinoma patients. So,carcinoma metastasis should be studied clearly,which was important for carcinoma prevention and treatment. A lot of studies showed that the Traditional Chinese Medicine of Blood-activating and Stasis-eliminating herbs could accelerate blood circulating,prevent tumor embolus forming and kill carcinoma cells that broke off from the primary carcinoma and entered into blood. And it could inhibit the expression of the cellular oncogenes and the synthesis of DNA,which could prevent metastasis of the malignant tumor. By nude mouse model of liver metastasis of colorectal carcinoma,it was investigated that the effects of Didangtang on red cell immunity and oxygen free radical,which was a classic prescription of Blood-activating and Stasis-eliminating herbs. Objectives:To study the effects and the mechanisms of Didangtang on carcinoma metastasis,and the relationship of red blood cell immunity,oxygen free radical and carcinoma metastasis. Mthods:BALB/C nude mice was divided into 3 groups:Didangtang group,pathology contrast group and blank contrast group. The mice of Didangtang group and pathology contrast group were dealt with human colorectal adenocarcinoma Lovo cells to produce nude mouse model of liver metastasis of colorectal carcinoma,and those of the blank contrast group were not processed. After that,the mice of Didangtang group were fed with Didangtang,and 4 weeks later,the mouse were sacrificed and red blood cell immunity,oxygen freeradical and the pathological changes of the mice' s livers were investigated. Results:l.Most mice' s liver were structurally damaged and a lot of carcinoma cells were planted and grew in the liver of pathology contrast group;while less carcinoma cells grew and the livers were much more lightly and less extensively damaged of Didangtang group. 2. Erythrocyte C3b receptor rosette (E-C3bR) and erythrocyte immune adherence cancer cell receptor rosette (E-IACCR) of contrast group mouse were lower than that of medicine group,while erythrocyte immune complex receptor rosette (E-ICR) was higher than that of medicine group,which meant that Didangtang could reinforce the mice' s red blood cell immunity. 3. Superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX) of mice of pathology contrast group were lower,while malondialdehyde (MDA) is higher than that of medicine group. It revealed that Didangtang could enhance the nude mouse' s scavenging activity of oxygen free radical. Conclusion:Didangtang could reinforce nude mouse' s red blood cell immunity and enhance the capability of scavenging superfluous oxygen free radical in vivo to inhibit colorectal adenocarcinoma cells transfer to liver.
