| Because of application of microsurgical technique, the repairing effect of peripheral nerve injury has made a great progress and applied a good base to nerve regeneration. But the efficacy is not satisfying due to the limitation of microsurgical technique and the complexity of peripheral nerve regeneration process after repaired peripheral nerve. How to promote nerve regeneration and speed the process of nerve regeneration is still an unsolved problem on clinic. Accordingly, the experiment was designed to study the early effect of extract of Ginkgo Biloba Leaves (EGB) local use on the repair of peripheral nerve injury in rats.In this experiment, 32 Wistar rats were used and divided into EGB group and control group randomly. An injury of the right sciatic nerve was made and the drugs were given just around the injury points and muscles, then sutured directly under binoculars. EGB 0.5ml and normal saline 0.5ml were given to the rats in two groups. After 2 weeks, the following items as sciatic nerve funxrional index (SFI), electrophysiology and qualitative histology were determined. Results: EGB group had motor nerve conduction, and showed more nerve fibers, bigger axon diameter than control group. SFI and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) were significantly higher in EGB group than in control group. The results showed that the local use of EGB had the effect of promoting regeneration of injured peripheral nerves, speed the process of nerve regeneration at early stage, be valuable of doing more research. |
