In this thesis, the chemical constituents of the extract with water from Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) vahl were studied.16 compounds were isolated from the extract with water from the fruits of Forsythia suspend (Thunb.) vahl with porous resin (D101) , silica gel, polyamide, etc. On the basis of analysis of UV, IR, NMR, MS data and measuring of physico-chemical characters, the structures of 16 compounds were elucidated as phillyrin ( I ) , rengyol ( II ) , rengynic acid (III) , forsythoside A(IV), rengynic acid -1'-O- -D-glucoside( V ), 2, 3-dihydroxymethyl-4-(3', 4'-dimemoxyphenyl) - y -butyrolactones ( VI ) , -sitosterol ( VII ) , epipinoresinol-4-0- -D-glucoside ( VIII ) , isolariciresinol ( IX ) , -hydroxyphenyl acetic acid( X ) , succinic acid ( XI ) , erythritol (XD , wogonin-7-O- -D-glcUA ( XIII) , rutin ( XIV) , phillygenin (XV) andpinoresinol-4-O- -D-glucoside ( XVI) , respectively. Of all these compounds, compound IX, XI, XII and XIII were isolated for the first time from Forsythia suspensa ( Thunb. ) vahl, compound V and VI have not been reported before and were new compounds. The assignment of some carbon signals of compound IX were corrected by 2D NMR spectra.
