| Purpose : To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with massage therapy for patients with Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Protrusion(LIDP).Methods:48 cases of LIDP were randomly divided into acupuncture combined with massage therapy group and single massage control group(24 cases each), and comprehensive therapeutic effects were assessed. Results :There was a very significant difference between the two methods in the cure rate (83.33% and 50.00% respectively, P<0.05) and the therapeutic course needed for cure(23.41±9.05 days and 39.30±11.73 days respectively , p<0.001).Conclusion : The combination of acupuncture and massage therapy in increasing the cure rate and shortening the therapeutic course is significantly superior to single massage for treatment of LIDP and at present is one of the better methods for treating LIDP. |
