Analysis On The Correlation Between The Expression Of PTEN,P～(27kip1) And Biological Behavior Of Gastric Cancer

objective: To study the correlation between the expression of PTEN > P27kip1 and biological behavior of gastric cancer.Method: Expression of PTEN and p27kip1 was detected in 46 cases of gastric cancer by the immunohistochemical method (two-step staining). 18 cases of normal gastric epithelium were as controls. The correlation was analyzed by statistics.Results: In gastric cancer positive expressive rates of PTEN and p27kipl were 63.0 % (29/46) > 50 % (23/46) respectively, without statistic difference (P>0.05),and correlated with each other (r=0.3043,P<0.05),but both were lower than those in normal gastric epithelium, 88.9 % (16/18), 83.3 % (15/18) respectively (PTEN:P<0.05; P27:P<0.025).There was no significant difference between cancer-edge group and 2cm-around-canner group (P>0.05),but both were higher than cancer group (PTEN andP 7:P<0.01). Expression of PTEN and P27kipl was not relevant to the position of tumor. As to the Metastatic states of lymph nodes, the positive rates of No-i group were higher than those of N2-3 group (PTEN :P<0.05;P27:P<0.025),and PTEN expression showed negative rank correlation with metastatic states of lymph nodes (r's= -0.4351, PO.005). About PTNM clinical stages, the positive rates of I. II. Ill stages were higher than those of IV stage (P<0.025), and there was negative rank correlation between expression of PTEN, P27and PTNM stage (PTEN: r's=-0.3197,P<0.01;P27: r's=-0.3800,P<0.025). There was no significant difference between tubular/papillary adenocarcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma/signet ring cell carcinoma (P>0.05).But PTEN staining of tubular/papillary adenocarcinoma was stronger than that of poorly differentiated adenocinoma (P<0.05), and P27 staining of mucinous adenocarcinoma/signet ring cell carcinoma was stronger than poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma(P<0.01).PTEN expression of intestinal metaplasia and normal epithelium was not different significantly (P>0.05),but stronger than that of cancer group(P<0.01).The positive rate of P27 of tumor <5cm was higher than that of tumor >5cm(P<0.05).Conclusion: Expression of PTEN and p27kipl was negative correlative factor of occurrence, deteriotation, adherence, infiltration, and metastasis. Low expression showed poor prognosis of gastric cancer.
