| Objective Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) is one of main factors resulted in insulin resistance (IR)and a link between impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Data about soluble forms of its receptors(sTNFR1 and sTNFR2) in IGT are controversial. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the relationships among serum TNF-α,sTNFR1,sTNFR2,insulin resistance (IR) in eldly patients with IGT.Research design and methods According to OGTT(Oral Glucose Tolerance Test)and BMI (BMI≥25kg/m2 or BMI<25kg/m2),89 eldly subjects were divided into 4 groups:non-obese-NGT(normal glucose tolerance,n=28), obese-NGT(n=22),non-obese-IGT(n=18) and obese-IGT(n=21). Fasting serum TNF-α,sTNFR1,sTNFR2 and TI were measured By using enzyme linked immunoadsordent assay(ELISA) methods.AT the same time,BMI, waist circumference,TC,TG,FPG,PBG,HbA1C and other related parameters were performed in all patients.Statistical analysis was performed by using analysis of variance(ANOVA),linear correlation(Pearson and partitial correlation) and mutiple linear stepwise regression analysis. Results 1.All studied parameters in non-obese-NGT,obese-NGT, non-obese-IGT andobese-IGT were respectively followed:TNF-α4.81±1.37 5.29±1.09 5.06±1.12 6.05±1.30pg/ml,TNF-αlevels were higher in obese-IGT than in non-obese-NGT and obese-NGT,non-obese-IGT (p<0.05,respectively);sTNFR1 1.56±0.49 1.39±0.50 1.59±0.43 1.67±0.50 μg/l,there was no significant difference among four groups(p >0.05,respectively);sTNFR2 3.18±1.19 5.19±0.74 4.33±1.02 5.97±0.87μg/l,sTNFR2 levels were lower in non-obese-NGT than in obese-NGT,non-obese-IGT and obese-IGT(p<0.01,respectively),in obese -NGT were lower thanobese-IGT but higher than non-obese-IGT(p<0.05, respectively);HOMA-IR 2.13±0.62 4.11±1.69 2.78±0.67 6.16±3.33,non-obese-NGT |
