Objective To explore inflammatory factors : macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) , tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) , c-reactive Protein (CRP) actions on impaired glucose tolerance and its atherosclerosis ,and to explore relationship between inflammatory factors and relationship between inflammatory factors and carotid arteries intima-media thickness(IMT). Filter risk factors which may result in atherosclerosis. Methods 30 cases IGT with AS, 30 cases IGT without AS and 30 normal control cases were choosen. And the levels of plasma MIF, TNF-α, CRP in three groups (IGT without AS groups, IGT with AS groups and control groups) were measured by the method of radioimmunoassay(RIA) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). To observe changeance of levels of plasma inflammatory factors (MIF, TNF-α, CRP) in three groups. Results The levels of inflammatory factors (MIF, TNF-α, CRP ) were shown higher in IGT without AS group and IGT with AS group compared with those of control group (P<0.05,P<0.01) , the levels of inflammatory factors were shown higher in IGT with AS group compared with those of IGT without AS group (P<0.05) . There was positive correlation between inflammatory factors , and there was also positive correlation between inflammatory factors and carotid arteries intima-media thickness. Multivariable analysis clewed that the importance factors of carotid arteries intima-media thickness were MIF and CRP.
