Objective: Since high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (HD-IVIG) is use to increase the platelet count in patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), HD-IVIG has become the first choice in the therapy of patients with severe thrombocytopenia. Because the HD-IVIG is too expensive to be used in a large range, so we try to find if a lower dose has the same effect. Methods: We separate tow groups by the dose of HD-IVIG. Group A is defined by the dose 0.2g/kg/d×5d, total dose is 1.0g/kg, n=25. Group B is defined by the dose of 0.4g/kg/d×5d, total dose is 2.0g/kg, n=24. After therapy, we compared the change of the patients' platelet count and megakaryocyte count and the time when the bleeding symptom is disappeared. Results: After the therapy, the platelet count of group A is ascend evidently, the megakaryocyte count is descend obviously, P<0.01. The platelet count of group B is ascend evidently, the megakaryocyte count is descend obviously, P<0.01. Between the two groups, there is no significance difference. The ratio of the ascend of platelet count and the descend of megakaryocyte count of the two groups was similar, P>0.05. The time when the bleeding symptom is disappeared of the two groups was similar, P>0.05. The effective rate of group A and B is 79% and 80%, P>0.05.Conclusion: We consider that the use of sub-IVIG can get the same curative effect, and because the charge is lower, so it could be use in a large range.
