To make clear the law of syndrome and character of the treatment of Eczema, 1872 cases were investigated and analyzed by epidemiological method and statistical method of system cluster. The results are as follows:l.The investigation implies that Damp-Heat, Blood-Dryness and Wind-Heat, deficiency of spleen are four main types of Eczema.2.The chief manifestations of Damp-Heat Type are diffuse redness, exudations on the affected skin, blisters, erosions, anxiety, thirst and red tongue with yellow coating. The major symptoms of Blood-Dryness Type are itching, thick and rough skin with desquamation and pigmentation, lichenification, light red tongue and a wiry and thready pulse. The chief symptoms of deficiency of spleen are erythema, papulae, desquamation, dyspepsia, distending pain in the abdomen and encopresis, light tongue with sticky coating. The symptom of heat in the Wind-Heat Type is not transparent due to the symptoms' concentration to the first Isoforms by Hierarchical Cluster Analysis.3.Pathogenic characteristics: Eczema could occur in many cases, Eczema often changed into other syndromes, and Eczema often influenced the functions of the spleen.4.Therapeutic principles: There are three major principles in treating Eczema. Firstly, different treatment should be taken based on different syndromes; secondly, both body and function should be considered; thirdly, use external treatment to cure Eczema.
