| Objective: The incidence rate on Congestive Heart Failure is high. It's five year survival rate similar with malignant tumor. It seriously threaten the life safety of manking and has already been a very important public hygienic problem. The aim of the research is to reduce the mortality and relapse rate, at the same time improve the patients' clinical symptom and living standards by treatment with integrated WM and TCM. To observe the therapeutic effect of these patients treated with Modified YiYuan Decoction and investigate its functional mechanism and applied prospect.Methods: Seventy patients with Congestive Heart Failure were divided into treatment and control groups randomly. Among 40 cases in the treatment group,male patients were 25 and female 15. The average age was 63.4 years old. Three cases were Grade 2 heart failure, 21 cases Grade 3 and 16 cases Grade 4. Among 30 cases in control group, 19 cases were male and 11 cases female. Their age averaged 65.3 years old. two cases were Grade 2 heart failure, fifteen Grade 3,and thirteen were grade 4. The general condition of two groups of patients had no statistic difference. All belonged to deficiency of Yin and Yang, blood stasis and water retention according to TCM. The control group were treated with traditional comprehensive therapy of WM, including controlling infection, smoothing the respiratory tract , continuing breathing in oxygen on two rate of flow, strengthening the heart, diuresis, expand blood vessel, correcting the unbalance between acid and alkali and turbulence of electrolyte, etc. Modified YiYuan Decoction was added in treatment group: cooked solfsbane 10g(first decoct), dry ginger 10g, ginseng 10g(cut into pieces and decocted alone), liquorice 10g, mugwort 5g, schisandra chinesnsis 10g, Coptic chinesnsis 6g, wind-weed 10g,ophiopogon japonitus 20g, woolly draba seed 20g,blood sucker 6g, Magnolia officinalis 10g, ginger 3g, scallion stalk 6g, 2 dates. If patients has obvious deficiency of Qi, Astragalus membranaceus and Atractylodes macrocephala were added; if there was obvious deficiency of Yang,cassiatwig was added; if deficiency of Yin, drug solomonsed, cornus officinalis were added; if obvious extravastated blood, salvia miltiorrbiza, Peach kernel, sufflower, leonurus hetero-phyllus were added; if obvious Oedema, oriental water plantain, Tuckahoe were added. If to much of sputum solfsbane will be remove, and snakegourd fruit was added. Take one dosage a day, two times with lukewarm water, One course is 15 day. compare the symptoms, signs of two groups of patients and changes of indexes. Results: 1.Comparison of the clinical curative efficacy on two groups of patients: After treatment, the changes in symptoms and signs of two groups were both effective. The treatment group was prior to the control group significantly (P<0.05). It shows that the additional use of Modified YiYuan Decoction can improve clinical treatment effect of patients with Congestive Heart Failure compared with therapy of WM alone.2. Comparison of improvement in the patients' cardiac function examinations:After treatment, comparison of the the ejection fraction of left ventricle, the treatment group was prior to the control group significantly (P<0.05). The LVEF of post-treatment comparison of pretreatment were both obviously improved both the two groups.3. Comparison of improvement in the patients' symptom integra of Congestive Heart Failure: After treatment, symptom integra of the two groups of patients decreased both. But the treatment group showed a great difference (P<0.05).4. Comparison of improvement in the patients' symptom integra of every symptom: Comparing pre-treatment with post-treatment, the groups of patients' symptom integra of every symptom decreased, and every of the treatment group's symptom showed a great difference (P<0.05).5.
