A Matched Case-Control Study On Influential Factor Of Lung Cancer In Yu'Huan County

Lung cancer is a kind of disease which threatens human's health and lives severely. In the past few years, however, the invasion and death of lung cancer had the trend to increase in the developed and developing countries. To see from all over the world, the attack rate and death rate of lung cancer in most countries had somewhat increased, the adjusted death rate of lung cancer in cities in China, compared with countrysides, has increased more. Among the adjusted death rate of malignant tumors, lung cancer rised fastest (cities 74.50%, countrysides 143.35%).The reasons which cause the rising trend of attack rate and death rate of lung cancer are: the phenomenon that people endure more tension and pay close attention to health of themselves and so on. In addition, in the process of industrialization and urbanization, accompanied with the change of biogeocoenosis, the pollution of air, water and soil, the growing downwards of ozonosphere day by day, and the destroy of balance of nature and so on, the invasive chanciness of lung cancer of human increased. Our country has been the biggist country of the production of Nicotiana tabacum, the number of smokers who are more than 15 years old is about 3 hundredmillions. In the investigation in 1996, smoking rate of male is 66.94%, while female is 4.195%. The age of people who has the disease of lung cancer is between prime of his life and old age mostly, and the attack rate of lung cancer in male and female is different.Study of the cause of diseases and deaths in 2002-2003 in Yu'Huan County indicates that lung cancer threatens human's health and lives severely. The crude death rate of lung cancer is 24.70/100 thousand, while standardization death rate is 21.09/100 thousand. So, to research the correlation factors of lung cancer which inpact inhabitant in Yu'Huan county currently is very urgent and necessary, which can help the government branchs formulate work projects, and can adjust and formulate prevention and cure measures accordingly. This study aims at investigating the risk or preventive factors of lung cancer for Yu'Huan inhabitants though a matched case-control study, and providing scientific reference for the prevention and control of the occurrence of lung cancer in Yu'Huan county and the reliable rationale to launch origin prevention and screening of lung cancer for high-risk group in the next step which suit measures to local conditions.Data collection and methodsTo select survival case of primary lung cancer which was finally diagnosed in the county hospital or higher levels and some cases which were dead of lung cancer not long ago. It is required that people who is been selected must be the inhabitant in Yu'Huan county, and has been living here more then 20 years. The control should be relative healthy people who is not a patient of lung cancer, and should be the same age (not exceeds 3 years older or younger), the same sex, the same habitation (the same village or neighborly), and selected individuals that should be matched by 1:2.Using the questionnaire which is weaved and unified and has been pre-examined, to fill in the questionnaire after the object who is to be examed (the survival case andcontrol case themselves or the family member of dead case) is been asked directly by the investigator who is examined to be qualified afer training. The content of investigation mainly include general state and dietary survey.The quality is controlled strictly in the process from designing to collecting and sorting datas. In the stage of designing study, firstly, we reviewed pertinent literature roundly, and proposed hypothesis which is fairly complete according to the actual condition of Yu'Huan county. Sencondly, we designed the questionnaire reasonably according to study hypothesis.
