Objective To investigate the efficiency and safety of capsule endoscopy in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding.Methods sixty-seven subjects (37 males and 30 females, 52.6± 16.4yrs.) were examined by capsule endoscopies from May 2003 to February 2005.Results The gastrointestinal disorders that observed by capsule endoscopies as follows:small intestinal tumors 13 ( including hemangioma 4,interstitial tumor 4,lymphoma l,lipoma 1 ) , small intestinal lymphangiectasia 3, Crohn's diseases 6, small intestinal polyp 4 , small intestinal non-specific inflammation 13, ileal diverticulum 4, small intestinal ascariasis 1, and esophagitis 2, chronic gastritis 29, bile regurgitating gastritis 6, gastric capilloectasis 3, anemic gastric mucous 9,colonic multiple ulcers 1, colonitis 3, colonic capilloectasis 1. Conclusion The capsule endoscopy is a useful technique in detecting disorders in obscure gastrointestinal bleeding cases. It's superior to conventional methods of intestinal examinations having high detectable rates in obscure gastrointestinal bleeding,and it's safety and reliable.
