Objective Vitamine E, Vitamine C and β -carotin are essential vitamines to human body as antioxide nutrients. They can prevent aging, enhance immunity and reduce DNA damage, etc, which have been broadly confirmed. But it is still unknown that if these vitamines can influence the levels of lipids metabolism and liver function when aged people supplement these antioxide vitamines. Most of the related reports are about supplementation of single vitamine or about experiments in which animals are selected as the subjects. Also these related reports are not always consistent with each other. Thus this study will discuss the influence of these vitamines to the aged people's lipids metabolism by comparing the results of supplementing vitamine E, C and β -carotin to aged people or not. Methods The study selects 2 groups of people as the subjects. One group are composed of old people aged 60 to 75 years old from a country of Qingdao city. The other consist of college students aged 21 to 24. Fasting venous blood are collected from all the subjects voluntary before the experiments. Aged people are divided into 5 groups in the experiment at random and 4 groups for the younger people. Each group have been supplied compound nrtrients (vitamine E,Vitamine C and β-carotin) each day with different doses 16 weeks for the old and 8 weeks for the young. Then fasting venous blood are collected again to examine related factors, which conclude factors of lipids and liver function, etc. All these factors are detected by clinical diagnostic reagent box respectively. Results By contrasting the results of supplementing vitamines or not , it shows that supplementing different does of antioxide nutrients can improve the total levels of lipids metabolism for aged people. By using t-test the data show that after supplementing the nutrients the levels of TC, LDL-C and Apo-B100 decrease obviously by 11%, 38% and 33% respectively, while the level of Apo-A I increases obviously by 15% and the level change little for TG and LP(a). The levels of the enzymatic factors also change at different extent. The levels of AST, ALT, ALP and γ -GGT increase obviously by 18%, 96%, 82% and 52% respectively.Through further study by dividing subjects into groups it shows that different antioxide nutrients can also influence different factors independently. By ANOVA the level of Apo-A I increases in the group which subjects are given VE 5mg/d contrasted by the 2 groups given VE 200mg/d and VC 300mg/d in which one group is given β -C 5.6mg/d and the other is given no β -C. The level of LDL in the groups given β -C 16.7mg/d and 8.35 mg/d increases contrasted by the no β -C group. Conclusion: Supplementing VE, VC and β -C can improve the levels of lipids metabolism for aged people, which can decrease the levels of TC, LDL and Apo-B100 and increase Apo-A I and HDL, which are all beneficial to reduce the incidence of...
