Clinical Study On Treatment Of Acne Vulgaris With Scattered Needling Combined With Auricular Point Sticking

Purpose: To explore the theory basis and the best programme in the clinical prevention and cure of acne vulgaris, we observed the clinical efficacy of treating acne vulgaris with scattered needling combined with auricular point sticking and the effect on those treated patients by analysing the improvement of quality of life and the change of immunoglobulins(IgA, IgM, IgG) before and after treatment. The effective mechanism of scattered needling combined with auricular point sticking treating acne vulgaris was studied.Methods: Forty chosed cases of acne vulgaris patients were randomly divided into 2 groups(n=20), the treatment group and the medicine control group. The treatment group was treated by scattered needling combined with auricular point sticking and the medicine control group was given by Zinc Glycyrrhiza capsules. After treatment of 2 therapeutic courses, the change of serum immunoglobulins(IgA, IgM, IgG) was measured with rate-nephelometry in patients with acne vulgaris before and after treatment. Quality-of-life assessment in patients before and after treatment with a new acne-specific questionnaire.Results: â‘ There were significant differences in the clinical efficacy after treatment as the treatment group compared with the medicine control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the medicine control group with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0. 05), comparison of the cured rate in both groups showed insignificant difference(P>0.05). (2)There were insignificant differences before and after treatment in IgA, IgM in both groups, respectively(P>0.05). Serum level of IgG in the patients after treatment were lower than before treatment with a significant difference before and after treatment in the treatment group CP<0. 05), comparison of serum level of IgG before and after treatment in the medicine control group showed insignificant difference(/>>0. 05). There were significant differences in the decrease of serum IgG level as the treatment group compared with the medicine control group(P<0. 05). (3)The score in the patients in both groups increased in self-feeling, in emotion function and in society function respectively, with a significant difference before and after treatment CP<0. 01, P<0. 05). Then after treatment there were obvious differences in the score as the treatment group compared with the medicine control group in self-feeling, in emotion function and in society function respectively(F<0. 05).Conclusion: (l)Scattered needling combined with auricular point sticking has better clinical efficacy on acne vulgaris than Zinc Glycyrrhiza capsule. (2) Acupuncture and Moxibustion has a definite therapeutic effect on acne vulgaris and can improve quality of life in patients. (3)Acupuncture and Moxibustion can regulate immune function,which may be an important mechanism to treat acne vulgaris.
