The Effect Of Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei On Action Of Trypsin-Like Protease Produced By P.gingivalis

This study is to investigate the antimicrobial effect of Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei on Porphyromonas gingivalis, and the effect of Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion on the activity of trypsin-like protease of Porphyromonas gingivalis.Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277 was chosen as the experimental bacterial strain. The liquid media two-fold dilutionmethod was performed to study the antimicrobial effect. Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion was diluted into different concentration, each inoculated with a suspension(10~8 CFU/ml) of Porphyromonas gingivalis. After 48h of incubation at 37 ℃ under anaerobic conditions, minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) was determined. Then after adding different concentrations of Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion into BHI media, anaerobic technique was applied to cultured Porphyromonas gingivalis .the action of trypsin-like protease was assayed.Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion inhibited growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis effectively. MIC for Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion was 0.125mg/ml. And Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion has the inhibition in theactivity of trypsin-like protease produced by Porphyromonas gingivalis.So we can drew a conclusion that Radix Et Rhizoma Rheion inhibited the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis , and the activity of trypsin-like protease of Porphyromonas gingivalis.
